Thank you for contributing your story to the world!
We all have something to learn from everyone…and I would love it if you could share a story for the Monthly Adventure website. A story that you will never forget. Something you experienced. An adventure of the mind, the physical, the heart, the spirit – you name it! A story that will inspire others with your adventure.
And when I say adventure…I’m talking about an event in your life that stands out. It could be about doing something that completely scared you – but you did it anyways. It could be about how you changed your life. It could be about some adventure you went on that was completely exciting…that inevitably opened your eyes to new things. It could be small or big. Some adventures are also just introspective – as opposed to traveling halfway around the world. Something where you had that defining moment….the ‘a-ha!’…that changed a part of who you are…or maybe everything. It could be anything or everything.
Please remember that your story may be read by thousands eventually, so I need to recommend a few guidelines before submitting it.
POTENTIAL TEMPLATE GUIDELINE – ONLY AS A STARTING POINT
1. Name:
[can be anonymous, your first name only, or even your full name]
2. Where you live:
[can be left blank if you don't want people to know]
3. One sentence stating what the adventure/experience was:
Only ONE sentence. ie. I walked away from my career and moved to another country. I revealed a secret that changed my life. I flew across the country in a plane I built. I got over my fear of heights. ….something like that. I ended my relationship with my partner – which was one of the toughest things I ever did – and went out into the world with my bucket list.
4. Backstory:
What events led up to this taking place? What was going on in your life? ie. As a little boy, I watched a horse kill a dog and injure my uncle which is why I’m terrified of horses. OR: I had the life, I made the money, I was living ‘the dream’ until….x happened….which led to this change in my life.
5. The ADVENTURE/experience:
Describe it…what was it about? was it physical, spiritual or introspective?
6. Feelings and emotions:
What were the feelings and emotions that surrounded this experience? How did you feel when doing it? Or even up to it? After the fact?
7. What did you get out of it?
Did you learn something new? Did you like it? Hate it? Discover a new awesome hobby?
8. What was one of the more interesting aspects of your experience?
Did anything funny happen? Uncomfortable? Meet any new people? Was it the best thing you ever did?
9. Any challenges to overcome?
Fears? Doubts? people not wanting you to do it? Nervous tension? Phobias?
10. Any life-altering moments…A-HA moments?
11. How do you feel now? How have you changed?
12. Did your experience have an effect on the lives of the people around you?
13. Did you have a source of inspiration? Current inspirations? People who inspire you?
14. Any upcoming future adventures/experiences?
